New & Upcoming
Big Pines Natural Area Expanded
The N.H. Division of Forests and Lands has added 11.7 acres to the Big Pines Natural Area, which is managed for recreational hiking by the TCC. The state cited “some exceptionally large hemlock trees worthy of inclusion” as the reason for the expansion. This addition to the Big Pines area will help protect the old growth characteristics of the Peg King Trail corridor. Thank you, NH-DFL!
Trail Relocation at Big Pines
The Betty Steele Loop has been moved away from the riverbank due to erosion problems and poor footing. The loop now splits a little further up. Please do not remove the woody debris blocking the old trail. For a complete updated map of the Big Pines trails, click here.
Managed Lands & Trails
TCC trails provide short walks throughout town. Lands managed by TCC protect key natural features, forests, and farmlands.
Wetlands & Groundwater
Wetlands provide critical functions: protecting water we depend on and providing habitat.
Groundwater is THE source of drinking water for Tamworth residents. Its quality is vital to public health. You can help protect it...
